Hump Day Blues

I'm having one of those days where it took me forever just to get out of bed. I must have hit snooze about 20 times. I lift the covers to get up a realize the house is freezing and it's dark a gloomy outside....perfect day to stay in bed and sleep. I finally get up and start walking to the bathroom and step on one of Jake's lego pieces and jabs me right in the bottom of my right foot. So after sitting there for 5 minutes , cussing, rubbing my foot I continue my 10 ft long journey to our bathroom only to find the whole roll of toliet paper on the bathroom floor and a kitten in the middle of all it. So after yelling at the kitten and picking up the mess I closed the door to do my business, brush my teeth..yadda, yadda, yadda and all of a sudden there is a knock on the bathroom door. "What are ya doing in there daddy?" It was Cori. Everytime I walk into a bathroom in this house 2 seconds later there's a knock at the door.....guaranteed. They need to know in full detail, 2 pages single spaced, what I'm doing in there. This knocking continued for another 10 min. until I came out. I walked over to the window and looked out upon cloudy and rainy skies. Depressing. All of a sudden I hear screaming coming from the living room....Cori is screaming at Jake. She wants to watch "Backyardigans" and he wants to watch "Power Puff Girls." Power Puff Girls......Power Puff Girls. My son wants to watch Power Puff Girls. What have I done wrong. I had to escape. I run to hide in the computer room in the basement but they find me...they always find me. They are my shadows...everywhere I go they go...but loud shadows that leave a trail of toys and chip crumbs wherever they go......There gone now..upstairs watching tv...I think....It's quiet...too quiet...what are they doing....oh crap, have to go check....later.

Weekend Project from Hell

It's so simple.....I must be retarded.
No comments on what this looks like.
Corndog anyone?
The finished rocket...will it fly?

What started out as a simple weekend project turned into a nightmare! Jake had to build a rocket for Boy Scouts for a race. It came in a small box and was suppose to be simple. Yeah right! Now I've built the cars and the boats for those races but never a rocket. I have never even seen one built before. Let me tell you...the directions sucked! There were no good pictures to go from. I ended up cutting one of the wires too short for the propeller
and had to go to Lowes to get more. (which they didn't have the same size.) Everything has been a pain but it's finally done!!! Yeah!! Jake has his race tomorrow night and we'll see how it does. Hopefully I did it right and he does pretty good or I'll feel horrible!

You Gotta Know When to Hold'em....Know When to Put Pine Tar on your Hand.....

I hate Kenny Rogers. Maybe it's because of him hitting a camera man last year or maybe it's just because he looks and acts like a loose canon ready to go off but anyways I hate him. I didn't need anymore reason to hate him and then this pops up last night when he had a substance of question on his hand....that was just the nail in the coffin. If you don't know what I'm talking about I'll tell ya. One of the Cardinal players, while watching the game from the locker room on tv, noticed that Mr. Rogers had a brown substance on his hand and alerted Tony LaRussa and he alerted the umpires. Nobody is saying what this substance was but if you ask me I think this should have been looked into a little bit more. I mean my God...It's only the World Series. Is it just me or does anyone else feel the same way about him as me. I mean its the World Series and to pull something like this makes his whole team look bad! I repeat....I hate Kenny Rogers.

Possible Halloween Costumes

Who wouldn't want to be a gay pig for Halloween?
Yowza! Who's this Hottie?
Brian...Huh, Huh? Put in your Bubba teeth and your chicken under your arm?
No fair...I was this last year!

I can hear the stitches on that costume tearing as I type this.

What????

I was surfing the web for Cardinal stuff and came across this hat for sale. Do you see anything wrong with this picture? I could have swore the Cardinals were the National League Champions. Maybe that's why this hat is so cheap.

Packers Win! Packers Win!

Packers Notch 2nd Win, Defeat Dolphins 34-24

MIAMI - The Packers got an interception returned for a touchdown by Charles Woodson and an acrobatic touchdown catch by Donald Driver in the third quarter to take the lead on Miami into the final period on Sunday. Ahman Green added a 70-yard TD run in the fourth quarter to extend the advantage. The Dolphins countered with a five-play, 80-yard drive to trail by just three, but David Martin's 13-yard TD catch restored the double-digit lead and iced the victory!

It's about time...the Pack has had a rough start but maybe this will give them a little boost and they can continue to win. Let's hope so...right McGone.

The Legend of John Baptiste

John Baptiste was one of the first gravediggers ever employed in Salt Lake City in the late 1800‘s. He lived in a two-room house with a lean-to at the corner of K Street and Temple and he was believed to be well-off and lived comfortably. He was also known to be a hard worker and punctual, always carrying out his appointed duties at the city cemetery. He was a quiet fellow though and had few friends, so most people never paid much attention to him as he went about his work.
About three years after Baptiste came to work for the city, a man died in Salt Lake City and was, of course, buried by the gravedigger in the local cemetery. A short time later, the man's brother came to Utah from the east. He was not familiar with the Mormon religion as his brother had been and wished to have his sibling returned to the east to be buried in the family plot. His wish was granted and the grave was uncovered. The casket was pried open and the corpse inside was discovered to be nude and lying in the coffin facedown, as though it had been dumped there.
Needless to say, the brother was outraged and city officials began an immediate investigation. The investigation focused on John Baptiste and several men were assigned to keep him and the cemetery under surveillance. Soon after another burial, Baptiste was seen pushing a wheelbarrow from a nearby storage shed to a freshly opened grave. Authorities stopped him and found a pile of clothing hidden in the bushes. The corpse had been removed from the grave, his clothing removed, and was now being moved from the storage shed in the wheelbarrow.
Baptiste was arrested and his home was searched. His house was filled with clothing! He had used some of it for drapes and furniture covers and in the cellar, a large vat was placed for boiling the clothing of the dead.
The news spread and local citizens descended on the cemetery to check on their deceased loved ones. Authorities believed that he had stolen clothing from more than 350 corpses! All of the clothing from Baptiste's home was taken to City Hall for identification by relatives. They also went to local second-hand stores, where they learned the gravedigger had sold large amounts of jewelry for cash.
And what became of Baptiste? He was tried and convicted of grave robbery, was branded with a hot iron and exiled to an island in the Great Salt Lake, northwest of the city. There has been some dispute as to where he was sent, either to barren Fremont Island or the larger Antelope Island. Regardless, he was put ashore there, never to return to Salt Lake City again. But this was not the end....
A few weeks later, lawmen returned to the island to check on the prisoner, only to discover that he had vanished. A search discovered the remains of a fire and a small shelter, but no Baptiste. Some believe that he may have taken his own life and others that he built a raft and escaped, but no matter, he was never heard from again. Or was he? It has been said that Baptiste still haunts the shores and beaches of the lake today. The stories claim that he has been seen walking along the water's edge, clutching in his hands a bundle of wet, rotted clothing

This is year 57 for the Warren Miller ski productions, and this time the Utah Office of Tourism is a film sponsor. From October through December, the movie will have 400-plus screenings in more than 180 cities in 35 states.

This is from a news release about the film:“Warren Miller Entertainment is the most recognized and respected name in the action sports film industry. What Would You Do?

So I have a situation here and I would like your guys opinion on what you would do. Cassie has been wanting to go back to Illinois to visit friends and family and we have been telling her "no" because we don't have the extra money right now. She comes to me and Diana this week and says her friend Dan (which they are just FRIENDS) asked her to fly back for a week and stay with him and his mom said she would pay for the ticket. Would you let her go or would you tell her "No"? Before I tell you what I said and what Diana said I want to know what my friends say......yes or no?

What Chaps my Ass....

Wanna know what pisses me off....well I'll tell ya. I'm on my way to work yesterday afternoon (my 5 min drive) and on the way the 2 lane road narrows to 1 lane. Well...as we were driving on the 2 lane part (speed limit 50 mph) and I was in the left lane doing 55 mph a car came flying up my ass. Well after a minute or two of them doing this (riding my ass) I did what every level headed driver would do.....I slammed on my brakes. But did they pass.....Nooooooo. Not until 5 ft from the merge did they scream by me, swerve over and then proceed to go 35 mph in a 55 mph zone. Now what THEY didn't realize was that #1 - I was already late for work (yeah...I know 5 min. drive) and #2 - I drive a 1995 Isuzu Trooper which is a piece of shit and I won't think twice about driving it into their backseat. They TRIED and I repeat TRIED the brake think but when they realized that the Trooper was not going to stop they actually pulled over to the side of the road to get out of my way! Amatuers. What a wus. Some 16 year old punk who had no idea who he was road raging with. Maybe I taught him a lesson that day....pass or get the f@ck out of my way or I'll put ya in the ditch. Some lessons have to be learned the hard way.

Now breath....breath....breath...slow deep breathes....calm down......relax

Much too Young to Feel this Damn Old....

Is it just me or is anybody else falling apart? It seems like when I hit 30 I gradually started to self destruct. I mean I do simple things like cough and pull muscles I didn't even know I had. We went for a ride the other day and Diana drove and I got in first so I leaned over to unlock her door and pulled a muscle in my side! I don't know if you all got this or not so I will repeat it. I PULLED A MUSCLE UNLOCKING A CAR DOOR! How sad and pathetic is that. I mean I hear new things poping and cracking everyday that didn't pop or crack the day before. Lately I've been having problems with my feet getting really sore at work. So sore that sometimes I can barely walk to my truck at the end of the shift. So sore that it feels like my bones in my ankles are fusing together and it hurts to bend them! So after weeks of pain I decided to see a doctor about this. He decides to take 4 tubes of blood and send them off for testing and gives my some anti-inflammatory (don't think this is spelled right) pills to help with the pain. HA! Not only does it NOT help with the pain but I get two of the side effects.....dizzy and my feet are swelled up like grapefruits! Hurts like hell! So I get to go to the doctor this morning at 9:30 am to see what to do now. I'm still trying to figure out if I'm really 34 or 64? Some days I feel like I'm 64. Like I said before....I'm much too young to feel this damn old.

Cardinals Win Game 5!

How sweet is this going into game 6 in New York with Carpenter pitching! Hopefully he will pitch just as good if not better than Weaver tonight.(He did awesome.) Pujols finally smacked on out and it seems like everyone is playing well. Hopefully Eckstein's fingers are alright and he can play tomorrow. Anyways......kick a*@ that the Cards won and let's finish this thing tomorrow night. (Too bad we can't be at home to celebrate.)

What Have We Become?

The Paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider freeways, narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less; we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get too tired, read too little, watch too much TV, and pray too seldom. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life. We’ve added years to life not life to years.

We have been all the way to the moon and back but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We’ve done larger things, but not better things. We’ve cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We’ve conquered the atom, but not our prejudice.
We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We’ve learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to store more information, to produce more copies then ever, but we communicate less and less. These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships.

These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are the days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet to kill. It is a time when there is much in the show room window and nothing in the stock room. A time when technology can bring you this letter and a time when you can choose either to share this insight or just hit delete.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breaths away.

I stole this from Reynolds Raps blog but I thought it was very cool.

Die Hard Spiezio Fans!!

Hometown Hero

I'm at a loss for how to feel about Scott Speizio. I know how my wife feels about him. She's not his biggest fan because of what he did to Amy and the kids. On one hand my morals say I should dislike him because of what he did to his family, considering I have a wife and children. On the other hand it is pretty cool that we went to school with him and grew up in the same small town as him. It's every kids dream I think to make it to the major leagues and maybe just play a game....maybe hit a homerun......maybe make it to the world series. Scott has done all this AND not only made it but won the world series. Now he's contributing greatly to this Cardinal Team and if we're lucky will be playing for another world series ring. Pretty damn cool......and I say GO Scott! Play your ass off and make us proud! I know Morris is probably full of bandwagon Cardinal Fans now but ya know what...who cares....we can always use more people in the Cardinal Nation. As far as Scott's home life goes..I'm rooting for Scott the Cardinal...not Scott the Father.....although I guess he needs rooting for too.

Tick...Tick....Tick....Tick

This is the Albion Basin (Alta Ski Resort) live photo at 8:50 am. on Tuesday.

Hey BPDP....It won't be long now! The clocks ticking. The forecast is 6 - 8 inches of fresh powder in the mountains! I've been watching the live mountain cams from Snowbird & Alta (Little Cottonwood Canyon) and it's coming. Can't wait for you to come out and go skiing! Everbody is invited but I KNOW BPDP will be here this year! Get the ski's ready...it won't be long now.

Busch Stadium Doubles as a Pool.

Rainout beneficial to Cards' bullpen
Redbirds relievers get day off after long night in Game 4. Hopefully a fully rested Weaver can come out and kick some Mets a*! Tuesday night! I'm still sore after the spanking we got on Sunday. That was just embarrassing! It was cool Eckstein and Molina got homeruns though. Anyways...McGone...try not to get BPDP too drunk Tues. if you go out for the game! All I have to say is "I HATE NEW YORK TEAMS!!!!!"

Family Emergency....

The other morning I was getting Jacob ready for school when Cori came running upstairs crying and screaming the Sully (our Jack Russell/ Rat Terrier Mix) was hurt downstairs. I kept asking her what was wrong and she said he had something sticking out of him. I freaked and ran down stairs, tripping on toys, about killing myself trying to get to Sully. He was in the living room and I ran up to inspect him and saw nothing at first. Right then Cori came running up, still crying, and proceded to point to his whoha. "Right there Dad! See...something is sticking out of him!" I tried my best not to laugh because she was so upset. I told her to go get dressed for school and that Sully would be just fine. How do you explain that to a 6 yr. old girl? I'll let Mom field that one. It's amazing the things kids say and come up with.

Daily Photo

This picture was taken Saturday morning when me and Diana went up to the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon. There is a dirt road that takes you to the very top past Alta Ski Resort. This road actually goes through one of the slopes when the resort is open. Anyways...along side the road there is a gravel path that leads to an overlook of the valley. Right next to the overlook is a circle of pine trees, each about 300 ft. tall, and in the middle of these are two strategically placed rocks to sit on. (It's kind of a hidden spot.) Anyways...this rock was sitting in front of one of the rock benches. (Remember...this is out in the middle of nowhere.) What I think happened was two strangers meet on the slopes and chose this spot for a little meeting place to bump uglies and the guy gave her a false name and number. Now she desperately wants to get back with him again and the only thing she can think to do is to leave this here hoping he will return. That's what I think happened. Anyone else have any theories?

Sorry Cardinal Nation, last night was my fault

Last night's implosion of the Cardinal bullpen was my fault. (Sorry McGone, I know you heard more than enough about this last night after I had a few (too many) margaritas) You see, whenever I watch the Cardinals on TV in public or listen to a Cards game on the radio (which I was doing when the Mets scored their first run), I bring bad luck to them. Last night, I not only watched the second 3/4 of the game from a Chili's resturant bar, I actually asked the bartender to change the channel so I could watch (that, obviously, was a big no, no). So, you can bet tonight I'll be watching all by myself from my humble abode.

All is not lost, though. I did say I expected it to go to seven games and, as McGone pointed out to me last night (many times, because it wasn't sinking in to my drunk head), they have to lose three games to win four in seven games. Hey McGone, I think I figured it out, finally...makes sense!

On a good note, Spieziomania has hit St. Louis, big time! The guy would've been (and was) called an idiot for growing that (some said ugly) hair on his chinny chin, chin and coloring it red...but who's laughing all the way to the bank now? Seattle didn't appreciate it, but I'll bet they're wishing it was still Mariner Blue now! Of course, they'd have had to made it to the post season (and actually played him) to get his "super human post season powers."

Go Cardinals!

Note: I tried to post a picture of some Cardinals fans sporting a "Spiez" (fake red chin hair), but the blogger wouldn't upload it...might be my slow internet connection...see the cardinals website and follow the link to Spieziomania reins in St. Louis.
